Accessibility statement

Packet.Zip is built to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. Security content is for everyone; a site about breaking barriers shouldn’t create them.

What’s implemented

  • Full keyboard navigation — every interactive control is reachable and operable without a mouse, in a logical order.
  • A skip-to-content link as the first focusable element on every page.
  • A visible, high-contrast focus indicator on all interactive elements.
  • Dark and light themes, both verified for AA contrast (large text, body text, and UI components), with your choice remembered.
  • Respect for prefers-reduced-motion — animations and transitions are effectively disabled when your system asks for reduced motion.
  • Alternative text on informative images; decorative images are hidden from assistive technology.
  • Semantic landmarks and a logical heading hierarchy on every page.
  • Forms with programmatically associated labels, clear error messages, and status updates announced through live regions.

Known limitations

  • Embedded third-party players. Podcast and video pages embed SoundCloud and YouTube players, whose internal accessibility is controlled by those services, not by us. We mitigate where we can: players carry descriptive titles, YouTube embeds load only after an explicit click, and episode and video titles, dates, and descriptions are always available as plain text outside the player.
  • Legacy articles (2013–2018). Hundreds of articles were imported from the original WordPress site via web archives. Some carry imperfect alt text or heading structure from their era. We fix these as they’re found — reports welcome.

Feedback

If you hit an accessibility barrier anywhere on this site, tell us: email accessibility@packet.zip with the page address and a short description of the problem (the assistive technology and browser you use helps too). We aim to respond within five business days and to fix confirmed barriers promptly.
